MSE

PhD

University of Pennsylvania

University of Pennsylvania

Harvard University

A product of the Mild Mild Midwest (Cleveland, OH), Steven completed his bachelor's and master's degrees in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania, studying the effects of iEEG preprocessing of brain-state classification. He then moved to Cambridge, MA to complete his NIDCD T32 + NICHD F31-funded PhD at Harvard University / MIT, during which he investigated white matter structural correlates of reading abilities, disabilities, and educational intervention. He returned to Penn for his Postdoctoral Fellowship, supported by an NIMH T32, to study longitudinal white matter correlates of early psychoses and infant development.

Outside of lab, you can find Steven running along the Schuylkill, attempting to break into the Philly jazz scene, or smoking copious amounts of meat in his backyard.

Fun Facts

    * Steven is a jazz vibraphonist.
    * Steven was the first person to arrange a song from Hamilton for a marching band (with full legal permission). He got to perform his arrangement live in from of Lin Manuel-Miranda himself!
    * Steven scored an illustrious two (2) points, or one (1) basket, during his high-school C-Team basketball career. Did someone say Sixth Man of the Year?? 👀👀
